Introducing the new Number Builder: Showroom, remixing, gradients, and more
We’re excited to introduce Number Builder’s new features and integrations so you can design your own custom numbers in style.
We’ve given Number Builder its biggest update yet.
Number Builder is our app for creating custom racing numbers. The app is free for anybody to use, but it pairs best with Custom Number paints, part of Trading Paints Pro.
Here’s what’s new:
Account integration
Save numbers to your account so you can keep your projects wherever you sign in.
When you’re ready to save a draft project to your Trading Paints account, you can press Save in Number Builder to file it away in your account.
Number Showroom
The Number Showroom is a new place for number creators. Similar to the Trading Paints Showroom for iRacing paints, the Number Showroom gives a platform for artists of any skill level to share number designs that the community can race or remix.
Remixing
Make a spin-off of a number in the Showroom, whether you create a Version 2 of one of your numbers or change up somebody else’s. If you post your remix to the Showroom, the original author shares credit, too. Remixing can be turned off on a project if desired, or is disabled if a custom font is used.
Remixing a project lets you put your own spin on a project from Number Showroom creators.
If you post your remixed project to the Showroom, the original author is credited.
Advanced Previews
If you don’t want to remix a project — say you see a number you love from the Number Showroom and just want to change it to your own digits — you can preview the project, enter your desired number, and download the result or send it to Paint Builder. You can even reverse the number if you want to use it on the opposite side of your car.
Note: custom previews are not available on projects with custom fonts.
Send to Paint Builder
When you create or preview any number in Number Builder or the Number Showroom, you can send it right to Paint Builder with a single click if you’re a Trading Paints Pro member. No more exporting and re-uploading files.
Private sharing
Share a Number Builder project with a friend or teammate with a Trading Paints account to give them viewing and editing access without submitting the number to the Showroom. Check out numbers shared with you in the new Shared With Me section.
Gradient fills and outlines
Add a linear gradient and fade two or more colors on your numbers’ fills or outlines to achieve new and creative effects.
You can add steps, change colors, and adjust the angle of gradients in both the color fill as well as outlines of your number.
Here are a few starter projects from the Trading Paints team if you want to remix and play around with gradients for yourself.
Undo and redo history
Made an accidental change? Undo and Redo buttons mean your “oops” isn’t permanent. (If only we had one of these on track.)
Project saving
Instead of all changes saving immediately, whether you meant to change something or not, you can now save changes to your number when you’re ready to commit them.
Auto-saved drafts
The latest version of a draft you’re working on is automatically saved to your Drafts (in your local browser storage) to continue later if you wish.
Project types
Projects are now organized into three types.
✏️ Draft projects are unsaved works in progress that exist only in your browser. (This is how all previous projects worked.)
🔒 Private projects are visible only to you and the members you give permission to view and edit.
🌎 Public projects are listed in the Showroom for anyone on the web to browse, preview, and remix (if you choose).
We’re very excited to share the new generation of Number Builder with the Trading Paints community. We believe it’s an important step in our mission, which is to unleash the creativity and personality of sim racers everywhere. Number designing is an easy way to show off your creative skills at any level, even if you don’t have the time to paint a full-fledged car.
