🏁 Daytona 500 Proving Grounds Challenge is completed

Last week, we asked you to share your rides for the iRacing Daytona 500 for our latest Proving Grounds Challenge. We’ll be sharing a few of our favorites this weekend on Instagram and passing out some merch from the Trading Paints Store along the way.

While this was an exercise just for fun to see what you’re working on, these three paints earned the most favorites.

2026 Valvoline Confetti Ford Mustang Dark Horse by Joshua JD Miller - Trading Paints

I always wondered how some of these confetti theme Valvoline liveries would look on Mustangs. Maybe this is something Mark Martin might have driven in this era. A man can dream... #ProvingGrounds Got me both a 0x and a third place in my Daytona 500. I think this livery will bring you luck.... or it won’t. I can’t promise anything haha UPDATE: updated the pitboard in line with the design of the car. Car itself is unchanged.

2026 Scott Mitton Hot Wheels Ford Mustang by Scott Mitton - Trading Paints

This is one of three primary paint schemes that I will be running throughout the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, and in the 2026 Daytona 500 during iRacing Speedweeks. Hot Wheels has been a primary sponsor of mine since the year 2000 in the “NASCAR Racing 3” sim days. I have not yet updated to the 2026 “Ford Racing” graphics package as I like the way the ’25 decals looked on the cars better, but I’m sure I will soon... As this is my personal scheme it is not available for use but please check out my page for a ton of cool schemes to race! #ProvingGrounds

PBS Bob Ross “Joy Of Painting” Fictional Daytona Entry by Patrick Pieper - Trading Paints

Did you happen to know that in 1987, television artist Bob Ross was slated to enter the Daytona 500 for Rick Hendrick but in a Buick instead of a Chevy [Bob’s mom drove a Buick] but it was discovered that WDSC-TV Channel 15 New Smyrna Beach executive director Kurtis Schilling [no relation to MLB pitcher Curt Schilling] had siphoned $1 million dollars of money from the station to close the deal and was sentenced to 31 hours in a low security prison later in March. The deal fell through and Bob was extremely disappointed to not only lose the experience of attempting the Great American Race, but also that Kurtis had lied to him about selling his paintings to fund it. Kurtis used that to buy a private harbor with a yacht and a speedboat. That never happened, but please support your local PBS affiliate.
