This Week on Trading Paints: June 20, 2025

Welcome to This Week on Trading Paints, the pulse on what’s happening in the Trading Paints world while you still have the hope and optimism your iRating will climb in the new season.

🤓 Season 2 by the numbers

We dropped our quarterly season wrap-up stats last week, analyzing the nearly 3.9 trillion pixels’ worth of paints (929,215 total paints) uploaded to Trading Paints in Season 2 alone.

Check out the whole list for yourself.

🔎 Downloader 2.1.2 update released

We released a new version of Trading Paints Downloader last Saturday that fixes an issue some members were experiencing where Downloader wasn’t detecting iRacing. Downloader should update to the latest version (2.1.2, released June 14, 2025) when launched, but if not, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

This season’s Downloader update also adds parallel file downloads, which significantly improves download speed compared to past versions. (And as sim racers, we’re all about speed!)

🏎️ Staff Picks

It’s been a Gen 4 kind of season — here are some that caught the eye of Team Trading Paints this week.

Hugger Oranges Gen 4 Monte Carlo by Matt Muir - Trading Paints
Fictional sponsor from the EA NASCAR games Template from Big Evil Racing
Hut Stricklin 1998 Circuit City Monte Carlo by Evan Pienta - Trading Paints
Sirius Monte Carlo by James Collins - Trading Paints
Throwback to a cup alternate I made in original NR2003.
NO# Tony Stewart 2004 Home Depot Monte Carlo by Nathaniel O. - Trading Paints
This scheme was modeled after Tony Stewart’s probably funniest win at the 2004 Siruis at the Glen. After dealing with an upset stomach all day and battling through cramping he found himself racing for Victory Lane for more than wanting to win! With Boris Said waiting to relief an ailing Stewart. Stewart realized he had a car capable of winning and told the crew to forget the Swap and pushed through for the Victory over Ron Fellows. 2004 in General was a hard year but good year for Stewart. Having heartbreak finishing Second in the Daytona 500 to winning a pair of races both with their own controversy and finishing Top 10 almost every week it was a decent year for the Tiger striped #20 Machine. Relive his 2004 Season with this replication of his Watkins Glen Race car!
2005 Mike Bliss Best Buy #0 by Tyler King - Trading Paints
This is a replica of Mike Bliss’s paint scheme from the 2005 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on October 30, 2005. At Atlanta, Mike Bliss delivered a strong, strategic outing—qualifying mid-pack, staying on track through all 325 laps, even leading briefly, and finishing a solid 13th. It was one of his stronger Cup performances that year, underscoring his reputation for consistency and reliability. A similar version of this paint scheme was also ran at Dover International Speedway in the 2005 MBNA NASCAR RacePoints 400.
2000 - Jimmy Spencer - Big Kmart Diecast Editon by Dylan J. Baadte - Trading Paints
Featuring Drop Shadowed numbers even though I can’t find an actual on track photo featuring them. They’re on the diecast so I figured why not!

“I thought this was neat, because I also owned the Racing Champions version that had the drop shadow numbers that never ran on the real car too” –Aaron, customer support

🏆 Paint of the Week

Maris J Hibma shared a lovely Ferrari “inspired by the iconic Alitalia liveries” — painted on iRacing’s newly-released Ferrari 296 Challenge. It’s this week’s Paint of the Week, chosen by Community Manager Patrick.
