Updates from the colorful world of Trading Paints in the past week.

This Week on Trading Paints: March 7, 2025

Welcome to This Week on Trading Paints, the pulse on what’s happening in the Trading Paints world while you’re checking out iRacing’s upcoming new GTP physics.

✨ What’s New

  • For this month’s Artist Spotlight, we caught up with Aaron Burnette, Creative Director at Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. Aaron talked about what it’s like working alongside NASCAR champ Brad Keselowski, and creating the soon-to-be-iconic stylized No. 6.
  • After some longer-than-expected downtime Thursday, we’ve launched some exciting updates to Paint Builder, including layer grouping, template switching options, and performance improvements. We appreciate your patience while we’ve rolled out these updates and follow-up bug fixes.

🗓️ Coming Soon

  • The new iRacing build drops Tuesday, March 11. Check out iRacing’s development blog on the subject if you haven’t already given it a read. Three new (well, new to us) ARCA Menards Series cars will highlight the build — and we can’t wait to see what you paint for them!
  • The new build also marks the retirement of the Rookie Legends car. Goodbye, old friend.
  • We’ve got a fix coming for the eyedropper tool in Paint Builder, which we managed to break in this week’s update.
  • We plan to launch a new dedicated Trading Paints brand mini-site next week because we know you’re as big as logo and branding nerds as we are.

🌟 Fresh Official Paints

This week, some new verified official paints landed in the Showroom. Brantley Roden — Mr. 100,000 Favorites himself — posted digital re-creations of Joe Gibbs Racing’s paints.

🏆 Paint of the Week

Feeling nostalgic? Our Community Manager Patrick selected Scott Mitton’s throwback to the ‘90s Racing Champions NASCAR diecasts with this one-of-a-kind design for the NASCAR Cup Series cars as Paint of the Week. (Scott thoughtfully included Sim-Stamped Number and Custom Number versions for the Toyota, Ford, and Chevrolet.)

🎉 Special Shoutout

Speaking of the old ARCA car (yes, it’s a theme this week), member Christian Budd is one of the foremost NASCAR replica painters in the sim racing community, painstakingly recreating just about any paint scheme imaginable — even the super-obscure ones — from the early 2000s using iRacing’s old ARCA car. Peek through Christian’s profile to check out his anthology of replicas!
