This Week on Trading Paints: October 3, 2025

Welcome to This Week on Trading Paints, the pulse on what’s happening in the Trading Paints world while you prepare your team for disappointment in Petit Le Mans.

🧑‍🎨 BLACKBEARDltd in the spotlight

We’ve got a new addition to our Artist Spotlight series: BLACKBEARDltd, a creative professional whose work spans many, many disciplines of racing. (You’ve probably seen his work!) In the blog, he shares stories about the work he’s most proud of and his philosophy for creating work that stands out on the track (and the origin of his nickname, of course).

Product Updates

#️⃣ Some more Number Builder updates!

We launched a few minor upgrades to Number Builder Thursday, including the option to turn off comments and the ability to use custom fonts if you’re not logged in (though all the best features are available if you’re signed in to your Trading Paints account).

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 A bug fix for teams with new owners

Just in time for the iRacing Petit Le Mans, we patched a site bug this week where, when ownership changed on a team, the new owner wasn’t seeing the team in their My Paints teams list. If you’ve had a disappearing team, this was likely the cause!

🌟 Fresh Official Paints

There’s another new Verified Official Paint in the Trading Paints Showroom this week.

🏎️ Staff Picks

Here are some paints that the Trading Paints team is enjoying right now.

RAF “Johnnie Johnson” Spitfire Aston Martin GT3 EVO by Nik Paquin - Trading Paints
Inspired by British RAF WW2 Ace Pilot James Edgar “Johnnie” Johnson and his legendary Supermarine Spitfire.
Ferrari 296 GT3 - Toro Rosso STR3 by Andrea Zanon - Trading Paints
Livery inspired by the Toro Rosso STR3 F1 car. Enjoy!
Carl Edwards 2004 Justice League - Green Lantern Michigan II #99 by Cosmin I. - Trading Paints
One of the few Justice League cars themed cars that ran that 2nd Michigan weekend in 2004.
Automojo — “Lauda” (Laud & Lauda) by Joshua T. - Trading Paints
“Laud & Lauda” is a two-piece livery set that celebrates and pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s first World Championship title. “Laud” is an adaptation of Scuderia Ferrari’s own celebratory colours for the SF-25 at their home race in Monza, reimagined on the Ferrari 296 GT3. “Lauda” was first inspired by the Ferrari SF-25’s Monza livery, but draws a closer parallel to the 312 T in which Niki Lauda won the 1975 World Driver’s Championship. While working on “Laud”, I was reminded of how modern race cars are so plastered with sponsor logos that, as a design, they can sometimes end up being the visual equivalent of loud noise. So even as I was first inspired by the SF-25, for my own tribute, I wanted to more closely reference the original 312 T, which has a cleaner and simpler graphic design in comparison. “Lauda” is the expression of the belief that less can be more, and that a cleaner, simpler design is a louder and clearer expression of beauty.
