Downloader
We’ve released a new version of Trading Paints Downloader, which includes numerous fixes and stability improvements.
Among the changes in version 2.1.0 are:
- AI Collections (iRacing rosters) should now no longer downloaded the empty-folder ghosts of deleted Collections. If you still have deleted Collections visible in your iRacing UI AI Rosters section, you can delete them from your
Documents\iRacing\airosters
directory—and hopefully they won’t return again. - Fixed an issue in Hosted Racing AI sessions where paints from Collections were not downloaded correctly when other drivers joined the session before the host
- Implemented downloads of spec maps for AI Collections
- Fixed an issue where the player’s paints wouldn’t load after using iRacing testdrive
- Fixed an issue where the Re-Download Paints button did not work in AI sessions
- Data for AI Collections is now compressed and being delivered through a CDN, which should improve speed and reliability of AI rosters and paints
- Improved program startup speed and reliability
- Additional crash protection (for the program, not your race cars, sorry), including preventing a crash when updating paints on the Trading Paints website
If your Downloader program is not updating automatically, you’ll need to uninstall and reinstall the program. See our guide for more information.
Paint Builder
You may have noticed Paint Builder has been closed since Monday afternoon for upgrades.
We’ll have an exciting update here soon. In the meantime, Paint Builder won’t be reachable this week.
Reminders: clean up your paint folders and check your settings!
With a new build and new cars, it’s a good time to take a moment and clear out any temporary files that might have accumulated throughout your racing journeys.
To do this, in Windows, navigate to your Documents\iRacing
folder and delete the contents of the paint
directory. If you’ve got any spare temporary files left behind, they’ll be cleaned up.
Trading Paints Downloader makes an attempt to keep this folder neat and tidy for you, but sometimes files might remain in memory and aren’t deleted right away when you close Trading Paints or iRacing.
It’s also a good time to check your Custom Number settings in your iRacing graphics options; sometimes, a new build resets options unknowingly. To enable Custom Number paints, check Hide car numbers in your iRacing graphics options and restart the sim.
Happy painting!
