1987 #79 Bobby Dotter Miller American Ford - ASA by William Goshen - Trading Paints

Mark Martin left the Jerry Gunderman owned Miller American team to head south to the Busch Series after winning the 1986 ASA Championship. The team brought on Bobby Dotter, a five year veteran of the ASA tour to drive the Miller American Ford, renumbered #79. Dotter scored his first career win at Sandusky Speedway and finished 7th in points. Both Dotter and Gunderman with support from his G&G Trucking business moved up to the NASCAR Busch Series in 1988. The season was a struggle with the duo splitting half way through the year. Dotter would become a mainstay independent in the Busch and Truck series as a driver and owner for decades to come, while Gunderman went back to ASA and had future success with Ted Musgrave and Scott Hansen.

🏆 Paint of the Week

Community Manager Patrick selected this clever “bare-metal” Caterham 420R from Jonathan F. as this week’s Paint of the Week. It may look simple, but between the metal texture thoughtfully applied to the car and the perfect metallic spec map, it looks like this one hasn’t quite made it to the paint shop yet. (There’s probably something ironic about the custom painting platform choosing the unpainted car.)
