This Week on Trading Paints: May 8, 2026

Welcome to This Week on Trading Paints, the pulse on what’s happening in the Trading Paints world.

🧑‍🎨 ICYMI: Jason Dakins in the Spotlight

For this month’s Artist Spotlight, we caught up with Jason Dakins, a highly active painter in the community. Jason sharpened his skills through sim racing, developing into a career designing for iconic teams in both sports cars and now oval racing.

🎨 A small Paint Builder grouped layers update

Following last week’s release that added curved lines, gradients, and custom fonts to Paint Builder, we released another small update Monday. In addition to a couple of post-launch cleanup bug fixes, you can now drag layers in and out of groups from the Layers list.

Dustin (development) and team Valuable SL1de GmbH finished 15th in the Nürburgring 24 Special Event. (Editor’s note: Please ignore the rocker panel that includes the “don’t do this” examples from the Trading Paints Brand page. For shame.)

🏎️ Staff Picks

These paints are a few that caught the attention of the Trading Paints team this week (in a good way).

Rampage NASCAR Truck Series RAM by Scott Mitton - Trading Paints
RAM is Back in the NASCAR Truck Series, and with it all of it’s alter-egos. Ferocity Graphica: Raceday presents the Rampage RAM. This scheme is ready to rampage the truck series. I hope all of the Dodge and RAM fans enjoy these new trucks! Shout-Out to Big Evil Designs for some of the template upgrades!
Pcup Max Verstappen Miami inspired by Ons Lucske - Trading Paints
This livery of this Porsche Cup car is inspired by the Miami 2026 helmet of Max Verstappen. It features bold pink and purple tones with tropical elements like palm silhouettes, reflecting the vibrant Miami style. The design blends dynamic graphics with the car’s shape, creating a striking and energetic look on track. If you want your own custom livery, feel free to contact me on discord: Lucske. Enjoy the livery!
NASCAR Cafe Monte Carlo by Vincent Giacalone - Trading Paints
Based on the branded diecasts available at NASCAR Cafe locations in the late 1990s. Only did a sim-stamped version because the real cars had a bajillion number variants anyway.
Crowdstrike Racing by Tyler Tucker - Trading Paints
I made this based off the Crowdstrike Racing Oreca LMP2 from IMSA and WEC, along with their GT Mercedes livery.
GUNK Gen4 by Steve Buhala - Trading Paints

🏆 Paint of the Week

Community Manager Patrick selected this “Ford MooStang” from Andy M Hudson as this week’s Paint of the Week. Enjoy it and all of its cow-moo-flage glory (Andy’s words, not ours).

📢 Community Shoutout: Patryk A. has reached 1,000 followers!

We’d like to give a nod to Toronto’s Patryk A. on reaching 1,000 followers on Trading Paints. Patryk has posted some lovely creative paints over the years, and is also known for working with AO Racing to bring their popular Rexy (and family) liveries to the virtual world. Congratulations, Patryk!
