This Week on Trading Paints: September 11, 2026

Welcome to This Week on Trading Paints, the pulse on what’s happening in the Trading Paints world.

👀 What’s new for Season 4?

We put together a brief guide of changes impacting painters for iRacing’s latest build that dropped Tuesday. It’s a quick glimpse at templates that changed — nothing too major this time — as well as other updates, like vehicles that can now be used for AI-Ready Collections, and name changes.

🧑‍🎨 ICYMI: Cosmin Ioaneșiu in the Spotlight

We caught up with Cosmin Ioaneșiu for this month’s Artist Spotlight. Hailing from Romania, Cosmin’s path to becoming one of the top designers in the eNASCAR world has been quite unlike any other. Learn more about Cosmin’s story, design philosophies, and advice for up-and-coming creators in his Artist Spotlight.

🎨 Product Updates and Bug Fixes

We released some small updates to Paint Builder and Number Builder this week to further improve performance and make painting better.

Paint Builder

  • Fixed an issue where layers within a newly-created group sometimes changed order when the group was created.
  • Fixed an issue where the keyboard arrows moved layers the opposite of the intended direction when inside of a group rotated 180 degrees.

Number Builder

  • Added 139 new fonts to the default font list.
  • Fixed an issue where the list of vehicles was not appearing for the Generate Number Layer feature.

🏁 World 100-Ready!

Our friends at Hunt the Front shared Proving Grounds Challenge winner Joshua Wright’s wrap design competing for the team at the World 100 at Eldora Speedway this weekend.

Joshua was hired by Hunt the Front to design the team’s wrap for the race after being selected from his “audition” in a Trading Paints Proving Grounds Challenge over the summer.

🏎️ Staff Picks

We’re enjoying these releases from the community right now.

Dolly Partons Buttermilk Pancake Mix Ford by Tyler Tucker - Trading Paints
RIP Dolly. I’ve had this sitting in the queue for months and finally finished it. Based on Dolly Parton’s Buttermilk pancake mix that I’ve seen in stores.
Pika Ball M2 Racing by Brian Zinn - Trading Paints
Hashire Racing Pika Ball M2 Racing. Blending anime with racing, this time featuring Pikachu and the Poke Ball colors.
2006 Bobby Labonte STP Dodge Charger by Matt Ridgway - Trading Paints
Run twice during the 2006 season, the models and sponsor decals varied significantly. I liked this version better and so thus, here is Bobby Labonte’s 2006 STP Dodge from the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 at Richmond Raceway. recreated as accurately as I could possibly get. with a few subtle creative liberties taken. But this car was too beautiful to not be available in iRacing.
Caterham Union Jack by Jeremy C Morgan - Trading Paints
Union Jack Livery for the Caterham
Kyle Busch 2010 Z-Line Designs/ Racing For Kids (Custom #) by Gary P. - Trading Paints
Painted as it appeared at Darlington
Kyle Busch 2008 NW NOS - Charlotte II - Win - #18 by Cosmin I. - Trading Paints
Scheme ran and won Charlotte II in 2008
Zachary Phay 47 by Zachary J P. - Trading Paints
Tony Stewart Its the Great Pumpkin throwback by Bruce Johnson - Trading Paints
This repaint is the custom numbered version of my previous Peanuts Great Pumpkin throwback paint. It uses the latest template. I have also updated the sim stamped number version with the latest template. I’ve done these repaints as the actual car they are based on has no slant on the roof number; this can not be done using the sim stamped numbers. I have done a full set of screenshots, which show the changes to both the custom and sim stamped number paints (the only difference is the roof number).
USA - ASTON MARTIN THOR Team by Issam Er-Rabhi - Trading Paints
Based on a concept for the WEC Aston Martin Thor Team #007, which I (Issam Liveries) made for their “home race” at the Lone Star Le Mans 6 Hours (COTA). This livery is designed to fit iRacing’s default IMSA decal set, so see it as a patriotic scheme for the Hearts of Racing IMSA team. Since the livery was created for the race at COTA, it features the Texas state flag integrated above the side mirrors.
